Meet the Maker

I was the typical kid who liked to draw and do creative things and everyone would tell you, "are you going to be and artist when you grow up?" Even then I believe artist did not make enough money to live, how times have change since I was a kid. Now being a creative/maker/artist is a obtainable job that can sustain a living.

As a kid I would enter contests that put those creative juices to use. I would scrap project boards together for science fairs. I even entered a contest at my dad's work that allowed the employees kids to create their representation of the companies purpose for their annual calendar. Took art in high school and college, but I really found my love is in paper crafting and coloring.

My job by day is accounting, this is where the love of paper crafting was found. Not in calculating numbers to printing several pages of tax law, but with the team I worked with. My boss really encouraged and nurtured team building; and would provide the opportunity for us all to join with each other at her house one weekend every month to come together and do our hobbies. It created a bond outside of the workplace and we become more than co-workers, but family. She and other team members were avid card makers and scrapbook creators. When I joined the team it really allowed me to expand beyond cards and into chipboard albums, mixed media art, coloring etc.

My nights are like anyone else, full of plans, appointments and commitments. In order to encourage my own creative time, I create opportunities that allow myself the time for those creations. My friend and I made a planned "set in stone" appointment with each other that every Friday afterwork we would get dinner and spend the rest of the night creating cards or scrapbook pages. It has been a blast and so encouraging to know that I have this time set aside for just this.

A goal in life for me to is share my creations with others. I emphatically encourage everyone to try everything they can and I am willing to teach them and lead them along the way. I love to teach and I really love to teach how to papercraft.

Art and creativity is part of who I am. I was created to create, make, and share!
