About this Product
Photographic greeting cards of owls growing up, all occasions, blank inside and fountain pen friendly. Pen not included.
I print the cards and prints on professional quality archival 60 lb. smooth matte photographic paper using archival inks.
The cards are printed on 6¼ x 9 photo paper, which is folded to 4½” x 6¼” after printing.
4” x 5¾” image, ¼” border, story on the back. Each card comes with a white envelope.
I print each 4” x 5¾” image, with a ¼” border, on the top half and the story of the owls on the bottom half, which becomes the back. Each card comes with a white envelope.
The inside of the cards is blank, ready for your message. Made especially for greeting cards, the inside surface is a layer of high quality writing paper that I have found very fountain pen friendly with a variety of inks and pens.
An order of 6 to 10 cards comes in a clear plastic box, while orders of 1 to 5 cards are packaged in an envelope. All cards are carefully packaged to insure safe arrival. I recycle packaging materials whenever feasible. That is why some orders may come in environmentally unfriendly materials.
There are price discounts for ordering 6 and again at 8 and 10 cards.
Please contact me if you would like to make a custom order.

Meet the Maker
The first time my mother, a portrait photographer, began teaching me to print, I had to stand on a chair to see inside the developing tray. From that day, it never stopped feeling like magic to see the dark areas appearing followed shortly by the mid-tones that made the image seem to blossom even under the darkroom light. Since those days, there have been many technical changes in Photography. But photography still enables the magic of memorializing moments of wonder so that they are not confined to memory or overlooked altogether. A goal of mine is to find and preserve from ordinary situations the essence of the extraordinary, revealing, or celebratory. That could be a fleeting expression, a macro view into a dragonfly’s world, a baby great horned owl with a lot of attitude, an old windmill still turning in the wind, the way spider webs and winter ice refract the colors of a rainbow, or the dance of milkweed seeds shortly before taking flight, to name just a few of my excursions into the magical world that is all around us.

How it’s Made
I photographed this series of two Great Horned Owls growing up in a local park. I made about 3,000 images during 14 days over a period of almost two months. These same owls are featured in the banner photograph for my shop.
I devoted many additional hours selecting and processing the images in “managed color space” to insure accurate prints. If your screen is not color managed, the brightness and color may vary slightly from how they appear to you.
I print them on professional quality archival 60 lb. matte photographic paper using a Canon professional printer and Canon archival pigment inks. I inspect every print to make sure it is top quality.
