Pink and White Hand Printed Bandana
This 100% organic cotton bandana is hand dyed and hand printed in Chester Springs, PA.
Each image is hand carved into a piece of rubber like material, inked, individually hand stamped and heat set with an iron.
Color: Pink and off white fabric with black ink (I try to represent color as accurately as possible, color can vary due to lighting and screen display.)
Washing Instructions: Cold hand wash, air dry, iron on the back side
Fading may occur.
Size: Approximately 24"x24" Sizing may vary 1"-2" due to shrinkage

Hi, I'm Nicole of Nicole Carter Design!
Nicole Carter Design is a celebration of feminine energy, nature and botanicals. I take a mixed media approach to printmaking, incorporating hand dying, macrame, watercolor and embroidery. Each stamp is hand carved, inked and pressed one by one, over and over again, until the desired result has been achieved. I have a background in fashion design and love printing patterns on textiles such as cotton scarves, clothing and throw pillows. I create art to wear and art for the home to be enjoyed wherever you are.

How it’s Made
When I began printmaking a year ago, the first product I made was a bandana. I personally love wearing them because they are so versatile and effortlessly transform a look. Each bandana starts as an undyed piece of organic cotton. I hand dye in small batches in a stainless steel pot mixing my own unique colors. After the bandanas have been dyed, they are gently washed in the washing machine to ensure any extra dye has been washed out. After the bandanas dry they are individually ironed and ready to be printed.
I hand carve each stamp from a rubber like material. Depending on the size and intricacy of the design, a stamp can take 1 hour to several hours of carving. All my designs are from my own original illustrations which are heavily influenced by feminine energy, botanicals, and nature.
After I decide on a theme for the bandana I start by doing some test printing. This requires inking up and stamping each stamp several times to start to build layers of ink on the stamp which helps create opacity.
I then develop a layout for the bandana design and start to print. Each stamp needs to be individually inked and pressed firmly onto the fabric. This process is repeated over and over again until the entire pattern is complete.
The bandanas dry for about 48 hours and then need to be heat set with a hot iron.
The bandana is now ready to wear, hand wash and enjoy!
