Even as a little girl I have always had a fascination/obsession with paper, pens, scrapbooking, coloring, and crafts. Just Darlin' Jewelry has blossomed into what it is today because of all of those things. When I am not making earrings, I am reading, doing schoolwork (I am going back to school to be a teacher), or spending time with my family - my husband, son, and two dogs, Milo (Boston Terrier) and Zoe (Boxer) in Stephens City, VA. How it’s Made
Glass cabochon earrings are made through a creative process that combines art and jewelry craftsmanship. It begins with selecting or creating a design to go beneath the glass dome—this could be printed artwork, decorative paper, photographs, or even miniature hand-painted pieces. The chosen design is then carefully cut to match the size and shape of the cabochon, often using a punch or template to ensure a perfect fit. A clear adhesive is applied to the flat side of the glass cabochon, which is then pressed onto the design. This step is crucial, as the dome of the glass magnifies the image underneath, enhancing its colors and details. Once dry—typically after several hours or overnight—the edges of the paper may be trimmed, and some makers choose to seal the back for added protection.
Next, the finished cabochon is securely glued into a metal bezel, usually a round or oval frame that acts as the decorative setting. Once set and dried, the bezel is attached to earring findings, such as ear hooks, studs, or leverbacks.
