About this Product

Step into the apothecary of curiosities with this whimsical Poison Ivy Tumbler. Glazed in earthy greens with a textured surface that feels as wild as the vine itself, this cup is adorned with a vintage-style poison label that warns: “Use two drops in water to bring about a terrible rash.”

Perfect for Halloween gatherings, themed décor, or for anyone who enjoys a dash of dark humor with their drinks, this tumbler is a playful nod to old-fashioned medicine bottles and mischief-making plants. Handmade with care, it blends ArtShack Studio’s love for bright textures and storytelling with a spooky twist.

Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.

My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.

How it’s Made

Each Poison Ivy’s Wicked Tumbler begins as a hand-built clay form, shaped with care in my Saluda, SC studio. I roll out slabs of clay, then add texture with stamps and rollers to create a lively surface that feels organic and full of movement—just like ivy climbing a fence. After forming and smoothing the piece, I attach a vintage-style “poison label” design using a ceramic transfer, giving it that playful apothecary look.

Once dried, the tumbler is bisque fired to harden the clay, then glazed with layers of earthy greens and subtle tones that highlight the textures and bring out the old-world charm of the design. Finally, it is fired again at over 2,300°F, creating a strong, food-safe finish that’s ready to handle everyday use (or Halloween mischief).
