NOTE: THIS PIECE BROKE WHILE DRILLING and was repaired with multiple layers of cyanoacrylate...the pictures attached show the underside cracks where it was repaired, hence the reason for the significant price markdown despite the crack being almost unrecognizable from the top. Buyer is purchasing with this in mind!
This ammonite fossil specimen measures 6 x 4.75 x 1 inches and contains a 15ml oil reservoir, which will provide a burn time of at least 3 hours with a candle height flame. The item displayed in picture and video is the item you will receive, and includes a measuring cup, funnel, care instructions, and a 2 oz starter bottle of Firefly Safe and Green pure paraffin oil.
About Ammonite:
Ammonites are extinct marine invertebrates that lived in the ocean during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic Eras, about 408 to 65 million years ago.
They were predators that belonged to the group of cephalopods, which also includes octopuses, squids, cuttlefish, and nautilus. Ammonites had a coiled external shell similar to the nautilus.
Ammonites came in a range of sizes, from just a few millimeters to much larger. Some were smaller than an inch, while others were more than nine feet wide.
Most species had coiled shells with chambers separated by thin walls called septa, and moved by expelling water through a funnel-like opening, which propelled them in the opposite direction.
Ammonites are thought to have eaten plankton and small crustaceans and were eaten by dinosaurs such as mosasaurus, ichthyosaurus and plesiosaurus.
