About this Product
This is a Queen Anne reproduction doll. I have hand carved and hand painted her as close to the original historical dolls as possible. She is wearing a pink worsted wool gown that is hand sewn by me. I sew using historical methods and materials whenever possible. Her hair is made with natural flax which is also historically accurate for Queen Anne dolls. Her arms and legs are attached using a small brass nail just as many dolls were. Her arms are flexible and her clothes are removable. She can stand with the help of a doll stand and sit on her own. The doll's gown is in two pieces, the top is held together with eyelets spiral laced in the back. This doll includes a bonus under petticoat made of white cotton sateen.
My dolls are fun to use as props in historical settings and can be used to interpret toys that were popular in the 18th century. I love making them, and hope you love them too!

Hi!
I am a doll maker! I make 18th century reproduction dolls and clothing.
How it’s Made
I use a lathe to carve the head, neck and body. Then I use carving tools to carve each arm and leg. I attach the arms and legs using a brass pin. Then I am ready to paint! I paint the body, arms and legs a creamy white. I use at least 3 coats of paint allowing each to thoroughly dry and cure. I then very carefully paint the delicate features of the eyes, eye brows, and mouth.
Then comes the next fun part! I design a gown using historically accurate materials. Usually made out of linen, silk or wool, I make the gowns individually for each doll. They are hand made, so each one is unique! I also hand sew undergarments for them using linen and cotton.
Lastly, I design the hair. If I choose to make a cap, the doll will have a simple hairdo usually a bun. I use authentic materials from the time period. Historically they would have used either flax or real hair, so I use flax! Either dyed flax or natural flax. So far, I have made the wigs using natural flax or "cinnamon" color flax.
