About this Product

Add a festive touch to your home with this handmade Christmas pillow cover, crafted from multiple 2 ½ inch strips of 100% cotton Christmas fabrics. Each strip is sewn in a classic jelly roll race pattern, then transformed from a larger 52x64 inch quilt into this cozy 18x18 inch pillow cover.

The pillow cover features a luxurious red tonal vineyard backing and a soft 80/20 cotton-poly batting, offering a plush, quilted feel. Longarm quilted with a crossing circle design in red thread, this pillow cover is not only decorative but built to last. The envelope-style closure on the back, made with the same vibrant backing fabric, ensures easy insertion and removal of your pillow (pillow insert not included).

Each pillow cover is made in a smoke-free, pet-friendly home and prewashed with "All Free and Clear" detergent to prevent colors from running and to achieve that signature crinkled quilt texture. Machine washable (gentle cycle, cold water) and tumble dryable on low heat, this piece is as easy to care for as it is beautiful.

The vibrant Christmas fabrics are from excess fabric used in several of my other holiday quilts, making it an eco-friendly product. These pillow covers are a perfect match with the coordinating table runner and quilt also available in my shop. Whether on your couch, chair, or bed, this pillow cover will bring cozy, handmade holiday charm into your space.

Crafthouse Quilters

Meet the Maker

Hello, my name is Amanda, and I’m delighted you stopped by my profile! I’m a proud mother of three and a grandmother to six (and counting!). With a bachelor’s degree in architectural design technology, I bring my passion for design into a variety of crafts. Inspired by my mother’s advice to try everything at least once, I’ve immersed myself in the world of creativity. I’ve been crocheting since 1978, beading since 2008, and quilting since 2011, always keeping myself and the children in my life busy with endless crafty projects. My current quilting adventure has led me to explore the captivating jelly roll quilt design. With many of my quilt designs I revel in experimenting with new techniques, color combinations, and piece arrangements, discovering fresh and exciting looks along the way. Along with several family members we create the items in this shop. Together we are the Crafthouse Quilters.

At Crafthouse Quilters, we embark on a mission that extends beyond the mere creation of quilts; it's about curating a unique and artistic experience for every piece as well as redefining the essence of warmth and connection through our meticulously crafted quilts. We believe that the best quilts are not just products; they are manifestations of durability, comfort and artistry, intricately woven into every stitch. We believe that each person is a distinctive soul deserving of a special quilt that resonates with their uniqueness. Whether you find it within our shop or elsewhere, we hope you discover the quilt that speaks uniquely to you.

How it’s Made

What sets my Christmas pillow cover apart from mass-produced items is the care and craftsmanship that goes into each piece. I start by creating a full-sized quilt using the jelly roll race technique, a time-intensive process that involves cutting, arranging, and sewing over 1,600 inches of fabric strips. Once the quilt is finished, I take it a step further by cutting it down into two table runners and six pillow covers, adding more time and effort beyond the initial quilt-making process.

From selecting and ironing fabrics, to carefully arranging each 2 ½ inch strip in the perfect color order, every stage takes thoughtful planning. Sewing the strips into the signature jelly roll race style—where long strips are folded and stitched again and again—requires patience and precision. The quilt top is then transformed into a "quilt sandwich" with soft batting and a red cotton backing before it’s longarm quilted with an overlapping circular design. Finally, I finish the edges with a double-fold binding for extra durability.

In total, each quilt takes around 10 hours of work, not including the time it takes to photograph, list, and market each product. While my photos may not be professional, they reflect the true, handmade nature of my work—and I’m learning more every time! My goal is to share my love of quilting with you by offering something truly handmade, with the quality and charm that only a handmade item can provide.

Care Instructions

Cold water wash, gentle cycle. I have pre-washed your quilt for the first time however, it is advisable to use a color guard in the washing machine for the first few times that the quilt is laundered.  Dry on low temp or line dry. Fabric is subject to fading if left in sun too long either on clothes line or from windows.  For quilt displays, refold every 2-3 months or quilt may discolor along fold.

Allergens

I work in a smoke free and pet friendly areas. There are 2 dogs and several cats. As much as they love to help with the quilting, I limit the interactions with the quilts that are for sale. All quilts are pre-laundered with All-Free-n-Clear and then sealed in a storage tote and put in a room that the pets do not have access to. If you would like them washed again before shipping, please message me.

Quilting Experience

I did my first quilt in 1989. I had a difficult time quilting with 3 toddlers, so I put the quilting away until 2011. Since then, I have lost count of the numerous quilts I have made for friends, family and charity. I have enjoyed exploring many different styles of quilting and I haven't finished exploring yet.  I can't wait to find my next big thing.
