About this Product

This raven is cawing "happy holidays" instead of "nevermore"! This piece measures approximately 3x5.5 inches.

The paper is handmade by another maker, and stamped with a hand-carved (by me) linocut block. The ink used for the print is Speedball block printing ink, which is hand rolled and pressed with the carved block. Each is handmade to order, so allow up to 3 days for creation and drying.

Deckled edges are hallmarks of fine, handmade paper. This gives the edges a "torn" and rustic look, adding to the charm of any art piece. There are 2 excellent methods of framing this type of paper to show off this beautiful feature. The first is to buy a larger standard frame than the art piece, and affix it to the backing board directly (you can paint the backing board first, if you'd like). The second method is to use a floating frame so that the piece appears to float within the frame. Feel free to message me if you'd like to see examples of each!

Note : The lines surrounding the image are the "noise" that can occur with hand-carved linocut. While some artists choose to remove this noise, it is part of my individual style to leave it in as I appreciate the handmade and rustic effect.

Meet the Maker

I started drawing when I was a child, to pass the time during frequent illnesses and hospitalizations, and found I had a natural knack. I am mostly self-taught, besides a few courses in high school. I love trying new mediums and styles, but common themes in my work include nature, moodiness, and whimsy. My favorite mediums are acrylic and watercolor paint, needle felt, and linocut block printing though I dabble and creatively meander often!

Two years ago I began studying herbalism to support the overall health and wellbeing of myself and my loved ones. I include listings for herbal products that I have found particularly helpful under the "Herbals" section of my shop.

I also have two POD storefronts that you can visit and order from:

I live with my wife, 3 dogs, and shellpuppy in NC. My 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren all reside in GA, where I'm originally from, so I visit there often. My other hobbies are reading, hiking, traveling, and gardening.

How it’s Made

The deckled edged paper is handmade by another maker, and stamped by me with a hand-carved linocut block. I design the art for each piece, carve it into lino block by hand with special tools, and then create each print individually by hand. The ink used for the print is Speedball block printing ink, which is hand rolled and pressed with the carved block.

Note : The lines surrounding the image are the "noise" that can occur with hand-carved linocut. While some artists choose to remove this noise, it is part of my individual style to leave it in as I appreciate the handmade and rustic effect.

Shop Policies

Please allow up to 5 business days for creation and mailing of your piece. Art prints and originals generally ship within 1 day, while handprinted linocuts take up to 3 days as they are created at time of order. Any other custom work - needle-felt portraits, screenprints, etc. - take up to 5 business days to create. If there will be a delay for any reason, Artist will promptly communicate this in writing.

Please note that handmade products, like prints made from linocut, do have small variations due to the handprinting process. Your linocut print may not look exactly like the product image displayed, but it will be very close. Further, if your piece is created on handmade paper you should expect variations in edges and paper texture, characteristic of handmade paper.

If you are unsatisfied for any reason, please reach out to the artist and the artist will make every effort to resolve the issue.
