These stunning roasted flame birch bobbins are hand-turned and finished to perfection. They are heat-stabilized, so no oils or waxes are used in the finishing process, ensuring that your fibers or threads will not be marred or stained. Each bobbin is one-of-a-kind, as the size and shape may vary slightly (with overall length between 7" and 7-1/2" and shaft lengths between 3" and 3-5/8"), as well as variations in grain and color. However, the listing will include a photo of the exact bobbin you will receive. Roasted flame birch is a unique wood, the "flame" in the title is naturally produce in some birch trees and refers to the swirling pattern see in the wood grain structure. The "roasted" element is a drying process where the birch wood is baked in a high heat low oxygen environment until it reaches a coffee brown color. These bobbins are truly unique for both their hand turned qualities and material choices. The bobbins are built to last and can be passed down as heirlooms for future generations.
