Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Jillian! I live in Wisconsin with my husband, our son, two very silly dogs, and a bearded dragon who definitely thinks he runs the house. By day I’m a scientist, but somewhere along the way, clay snuck in and became a huge part of my life.

Pottery started as a hobby in a community studio and quickly grew into something I can’t imagine being without. These days, I split my time between that shared space and a cozy little home setup, always chasing new ideas. I love pulling together all my different interests—bright colors, painterly drips, screenprinted details, and even tiny animal sculptures—into pieces that feel playful and one-of-a-kind.

When I’m not elbow-deep in clay (or science), you’ll usually find me crocheting, gardening, or off on adventures with my family. Pottery has filled a creative space I’d been searching for, and I love getting to share that joy with others through every piece I make.

How it’s Made

This piece was hand thrown on a pottery wheel, allowed to dry to leather hard, then trimmed and bisque fired. After the bisque fire, the piece was cleaned, glaze was applied, and the piece was fired again in a glaze fire.

  • Additional wrapping beyond my standard packaging can be arranged for a small fee.

Thermal Shock

  • Pottery, like glass, can break if exposed to sudden temperature changes.

  • To keep your piece safe, avoid moving it directly from cold to hot (or vice versa).

  • All food-safe items are tested by filling them with boiling water, then ice water, at room temperature. If a piece hasn’t been tested, I’ll note it in the description.

Microwave Use

  • Stoneware can sometimes crack from thermal shock in the microwave, so I don’t guarantee microwave safety.

  • Pieces with gold luster are never microwave-safe (this will always be noted in the listing).

Dishwasher Use

  • Stoneware is generally top-rack dishwasher safe. However, I don’t test pieces in dishwashers, so I can’t guarantee safety.

Glaze Safety

  • I only use glazes that are free of lead and toxic materials.

  • Pieces not intended for food use (like planters) may use glazes that aren’t dinnerware safe. These will always be clearly noted in the description.

Food-Safe vs. Dinnerware-Safe

  • Food-safe: All glazes used are certified food-safe by the manufacturer (no toxic materials).

  • Dinnerware-safe: Indicates that a piece is durable enough for regular use with utensils. If a piece is food-safe but not dinnerware-safe, it may be best for light use (chips, candy, serving, etc.).
