About this Product

This beautiful Walnut Pendulum Saw Clock was constructed from a walnut tree that fell over 50 years ago. The wood has seasoned beautifully over the years. I made this clock from a saw mill blade that had 52 teeth, representing the weeks in a year. the roman numerals are large enough to see from across the room. The center blade was sanded to a very fine finish and it has 5 coats of varnish sprayed on each side to prevent rust for years to come. This clock will definitely get a lot of attention and will be the center piece in any room. This clock is 28" in height and 20" in width

Meet the Maker

The Maple Tiger was the best way to describe my woodworking business and the work I do as a woodworker. Maple Wood has been left behind in the woodworking industry, I think because of all the exotic woods that has been flooded into our country over the past 30 years. All the domestic woods except walnut has been put aside, so to speak. I have always loved maple wood, there are so many subspecies of Maple if you get tired of one just switch to a different one. With different technics you can alter the appearance easely , I like that ability to change the way Maple wood can look different it allows me to be more creative,

Maple wood has many subspecies that can be stunning to the eyes, some examples are Tiger Maple, Curly Maple, Ambrosia Maple, Birdseye Maple, Quilted Maple, Sycamore Maple and the list goes on. There is no end on how to finish these maples, so the creativity can keep on expanding. I still make some projects with other woods, it's just maple is my favorite.

Working with wood more than 40 years I come to appreciate our domestic woods the most, not saying the other types of woods aren't good it's just what I prefer to work with. I have loved building clocks for over 30 years and I'll continue to build them as long as I can. The different home Decor projects that I build gives my mind time to be more creative and to experiment with ideals, well I hope that I have explained a little about myself, so now you know why I use so much Maple wood.

How it’s Made

Milling down the walnut I could see there was going to be some beautiful grain patterns. This clock was glued together with care knowing I was going to cut 52 small teeth around the edges. The roman numerals are cut out of metal to give it a rustic appeal. The center blade was sanded to a fine finish and sprayed with 5 coats of varnish on both sides. The pendulum was made for a small grinder blade and welded to a steel rod to extend the look of the saw blade.
