Sea turtles really are the marathon swimmers of the ocean, gracefully gliding through the water like they're starring in their own nature documentary. And meanwhile, I'm struggling to migrate from the couch to the kitchen without tripping over something. It’s incredible that they travel thousands of miles just to lay their eggs. Plus, the idea of them carrying the world on their back and symbolizing longevity and good fortune is just so poetic.

Meet the Maker
My journey with clay has been a lifelong adventure. Even after four decades, I still feel a rush of excitement every time I open the kiln lid. The clay experiment is always ongoing, from the initial concept on paper to construction and glaze testing. I never stop learning and discovering the diversity of this medium. Ceramics remains my pathway to innovation, all while honoring its centuries-old traditions.
Right now, I’m working with cone 6 stoneware, using both hand-building and wheel-thrown techniques. I love experimenting with different colored clay bodies and textures to enhance the interest of glaze colors.
Teapots, both functional and nonfunctional, are a particular fascination of mine. Their incredible lines and movement remind me of the human form, and I find endless inspiration in their design.
