About this Product

Paying close attention to detail, I made this triple-strand beach-themed necklace to capture the serene beauty of the coast. The three strands meet on both sides of the neck at a pair of chandelier connectors and drape down in different lengths. The strand closest to the throat is comprised of dyed aqua quartzite beads wire-wrapped into links and matching the shades of the bluest water. The middle strand features handcrafted sterling silver links repurposed from a previous necklace, mimicking the shape of some types of coral, and alternated with more quartzite bead links. The third strand is the most beautiful, showcasing shell nugget bead links and more quartzite bead links, all leading down to a captivating focal point – a sizable shell pendant intricately edged with pave rhinestones. Back up to the chandelier connectors, a single strand of wire-wrapped quartzite beads leads back to the nape of the neck to a handcrafted sterling silver hook and eye clasp that came on the same necklace with the handmade silver links. Due to the varying lengths of the different strands, there is also an extender chain comprised of quartzite links, ensuring a perfect fit. Complementing this necklace, the matching earrings feature more sterling silver links suspended from handmade Argentium hooks, each adorned with a dangling shell nugget bead. Let the seduction of the coast carry you away to sun-kissed shores and gentle sea breezes.

  • This necklace can be a range of lengths. The smallest length is 16" and there is a 3" extender on the back. When clasped at the 16" the longest strand with the pendant on it sits at 24" long.

  • The pendant is about 2.5" long.

  • The earring length is about 3" long from the top of the earring hook.

  • Earring hooks are handmade from Argentium wire, which is as good as sterling silver. Great for people with metal allergies.

  • The coral-like pieces, clasp, and earring hooks are sterling silver (or equivalent) based on all the tests I can run at home. As stated above, it was an entire necklace that I didn't make and I took apart for the pieces. The connectors are NOT sterling. I would consider this a mixed metal piece if you are conscious of metal allergies.

  • The wire used in the wire-wrapped links is tarnish-resistant.

Meet the Maker

Hi! My name is Jessica. I am the owner/designer/maker/shipper/accountant/social media "guru"/photographer of The Mystic Victorian. I hope I can help adorn and empower you today!

I used to dabble in jewelry-making when I was doing that 9-5 life that always seemed to be at minimum 7a-10p. I started a different version of my shop about 10 years ago. I couldn't think of a great name and I was torn on what to make. I always got told "That's too fancy" or "Why don't you go in this direction" and I felt a little confused. I seemed to always let people lead me to what was popular or what they liked and it never felt like it was from me. About a year ago, I rebranded to The Mystic Victorian and I told myself, I'm going to make what I've always wanted to make! Whenever I've put on jewelry, it's never crossed my mind if it was "too fancy." If it matched crossed my mind, of course, and if it made me feel good. A great necklace has always made me feel empowered to be the me I want to be. So now, I feel fantastic about my new name, the style and look of the pieces I put out, and the overall feeling of doing things on my own terms!

My handmade jewelry and baubles that I sell, stem from my favorite things and my favorite styles. I LOVE old things! I am an old soul indeed. I would say I was born in the wrong time, but I'm a pretty big feminist so I don't think I would've made it in an older time! I love scrollwork on anything, old houses, furniture, old books (and new!), flashy jewelry from kings and queens of the past, big dresses, pocketwatches...I could go on and on. But I also love quiet things, like the rain, the beach, and a nice library visit. I get inspired by nature a lot. A good sunset goes a long way! All of this tends to somehow come together in what I make.

I am married and a mom of two little boys and a doggie. I used to work retail for about 15 years, give or take. I've done restaurant jobs, cashiering jobs, and managerial jobs. My favorite and longest job I had was as a frame shop manager in a craft store. We had so many cool art pieces, and very weird, come in to be framed, and it was one of the biggest joys to make something out of the box where I could be creative with the design and emphasize the beautiful colors or importance of the piece before me. I have that same joy when I can bring an idea to life and make it work the way I wanted it to. Even a strung beaded necklace is given so much more thought than just stringing a pre-set combination of beads onto a different thread. I always create my own combinations and match colors to emphasize each other and exude as much beauty as I can bring out. That is what makes the wearer feel fantastic, is when you can feel that when you put it on. There's power in not being afraid to wear what you love!

How it’s Made

This piece was a labor of love from the start! I was working on using up some of my chip beads because I wanted to challenge myself. Chip beads I can't ever think of much for. Well, once I saw these large shell nugget beads and the dyed aqua quartzite together, I immediately had a vision of splendor for this one!

I wanted the aqua quartzite to be the pop of color the neutral shell tones needed so I made individual links of those. I wanted the shell beads to be noticeable though, so I wanted fairly long links of them in between the aqua beads. So I just joined together alternating links of shells and quartzite until I had the length I wanted. I made a small link in the middle with the large shell pendant and contrasted it with the aqua quartzite so that it would stand out in a sea of beauty...haha get it? It's beach-themed. Hehe.

Once I got the bottom-most strand placed, It wasn't too tricky to work backwards but I knew I wanted a chain in the middle of the three strands. I dug through my chain drawer and found this necklace in the back.It looks completely handmade which gave it a very distinct look, but also screams out "coral!!" to me. Once I saw it I knew I had to use it in this piece. So I took it apart and started joining them on my new necklace, again alternating with the aqua quartzite, until I had it close to the length I needed. The inner-most strand of the quartzite is a simple beaded link strand whose purpose is mostly to add the beautiful color to the necklace, rather than more design elements. After that strand was added, it spoke "seaside wedding" to me. Perfect color for the sea and perfect color for the sand and shells.

The clasp was also reused from the same necklace as the "coral" necklace links, and I made a 3" extender chain with more aqua quartzite beads and oval jump rings.
