Classic Silk Scarf
A lightweight, silk scarf can be casual or professional, dependent upon what you pair it with, and is a great accessory for all seasons.
Listed here is a unique, eco-printed scarf, naturally dyed with oak and eucalyptus leaves. The eucalyptus leaves printed both red and a shade of purple gray on this scarf. Goldenrod blossoms left no clear prints, but dyed some areas a very subtle shade of yellow, while other areas are colored with a deep brown from the dye pot of walnut hulls. Earthy and unique this scarf is.

Meet the Maker
Hello, my name is Heidi and welcome to my shop.
Everything here is handmade and I often reclaim unused items, and/or create with bits of nature, such as leaves, twigs, or bark.
For nearly 10 years, I've dyed and printed with local plants and have enjoyed the mystery of how these plants, from my backyard, color fabric and paper in such an unpredictable and seemingly magical way.
In addition to printing from nature on fabric and paper, I use gourds from the garden, old Christmas bulbs, and a multitude of used items as part of a unique ornament or object. Mixed media creations, these turn out to be, often with paper clay or paper mache added to complete them. Oh, and I love to crochet, especially granny squares.

How it’s Made
The colors and prints on this scarf are made from the transfer of pigments from actual leaves and nature bits onto a blank piece of fabric.
First, I lay the leaves and blossoms onto a white silk scarf.
Then I roll the leaf covered scarf tightly around a wooden dowel.
Next, the dowel was placed in a dye pot of walnut hulls.
Lastly, I remove the bundle from the pot, the dowel is unrolled, the leaves and bits of nature are peeled away from the fabric and voila! ... a unique, one of a kind scarf has been created!
