About this Product
The color-block fabrics and the swirling stitching lines of the hand-guided quilting were selected and created to complement the original abstract painting incorporated as part of this one-of-a-kind tote bag. The painting has become part of the bag itself, and is echoed by the vibrant colors and spacing of the carefully chosen fabrics.
All were curated specially and pieced together very deliberately to reflect the painting, titled "Sinking and Rising" by the artist who created both the bag and the abstract art. Only the most discerning who see this unique combination will be driven to have it for themselves, knowing they need to feel the paints swirling over the canvas, and touch the quilting thread that follows those same sinking, rising curves the artist was driven to create.
Inside is another surprise in the thrifted fabric chosen very intently to fulfill Lisa's love for upcycling thrifted fabrics. It moves away from the blocks of the quilted fabric on the outside, bridging the gap between those pieces and the mood of the painting, as well as the accompanying swaying, darting, quilted background. The hint of travel in the liner print provides the same action and movement imbued in the painting.
Lisa's signature yellow pocket, finally, provides a welcome bright pop of color echoing the same vibrant shade in the fabric of the bag itself. This is an original piece of art that is made to be used, to be loved, and to be a functional part of your life.
None of it is perfect, all of it is intentional. This is what art is supposed to bring to your life.

Meet the Maker
Lisa Hannon designs and creates innumerable items - she sews, paints, quilts, crochets, bakes, and writes among other activities, and is in the process of stitching her life back together after finding out she has an autoimmune disease, among other health issues. She can be found on YouTube with a search for @Whilst2024. She's a disabled vet creating and living in the Arkansas River Valley with her current and final husband and a seriously deranged grey cat named Egg.
How it’s Made
The artist, owner and creator Lisa Hannon, is in the process of creating four one-of-a-kind bags, each one built around her original abstract paintings. This bag is the second in the set.
Each will include fabrics she has gathered from local resources, including thrift shops, to exactly suit her definition of the depth of emotion each painting brings to life.
These aren't just "designer" bags, they're created out of a depth of vision that only a true maker understands. They may be copied by someone else, but they will never be created again.
