This is a 50 yard (45 meter) skein, hand dyed by me.
6-cord (cordonnet) means that there are 6 plies in all: there are 3 sets of 2 plies twisted together, with all twisted yet again in the opposite direction. The result is a very smooth, durable thread with outstanding body.
The base thread for size 80 is DMC Cordonnet Special. This is mercerized, very strong, tightly twisted, lustrous, hard-wearing cotton thread suitable for heirlooms, wearables, and decorative designs. I used Procion MX dyes to hand paint it. This is a lovely thread for tatting or other lace work.
The Procion MX dyes I used are very lightfast and colorfast. Items made with this thread can be washed in warm water by hand or machine, but no bleach. Air dry or machine dry low. Iron on the permanent press setting. I washed and rinsed the thread very thoroughly after dyeing to remove any unactivated dye, so it should not need any prewashing before using it in your project.
The thread will be sent in skein form.

This is a unique, individually hand painted thread. Hand dyed skeins will vary, even within the same dye batch.
