About this Product

Capturing a picturesque scene of a multi colored sunset behind the mountains, this shelf unit will add a bold scene to any wall in your home. Crafted from Walnut, Purpleheart, Padauk, African Mahogany and Zebrawoods, the scene is presented by all natural wood colors. No stains.

The shelf portion of the piece can be arranged to have the shelf at the top, or the bottom. I have mine at the top, and use the bottom part for hooks to hang my hoodies.

Sizes:

Large - Approximately 19" W x 16" H x 5.5 D. (Includes angled corner pieces for extra support)

Medium - Approximately 12" W x 12" H x 5" D

For a smaller version, please see my other listing at Small Skyline, since it is not necessarily a shelf, but a succulent planter.

You can add an optional floating element that adds more depth to the piece, like the bird pictured in the large piece. If you have a particular element you'd like to add, please message me before purchasing so I can make sure it's doable. The pictured hummingbird, butterfly and dragonfly are made of purple heart, but any floating elements for this piece will be made from walnut, since purple heart is already in the background.

Due to this being a handmade, natural wood product, please understand that there can be variations in the product, especially in the wood tones, grains and features. For example, Padauk wood can vary in color from dark red to bright orange, with bright orange being very rare to find. Do know though, I am very selective about the wood I use.

Warning: This piece may make you suddenly want to get outdoors and enjoy nature.

Meet the Maker

Hey there! My Name is Chai and I am a hobbyist wood crafter. Most of my products you'll see are items that I have made for myself, family and friends.

For as long as I can remember, I've had a passion for creating things. Mostly out of wood. By day, I am a people leader in the tech industry. In 2020, my company at the time was going through massive layoffs and my role was impacted. During that recovery, I dove deep into my passion for creation and started CR Crafted, where I created custom items for folks and also focused on building donation desks for young students forced to learn virtually.

I would love to turn this venture into more than just a hobby. So the more great items I can get to you, the more the ball gets rolling.

Thank you for checking me out. If you would like to check in on what I'm doing, please feel free to check out Instagram where I am most active.

Have a great day!!!

How it’s Made

The outer circle is made from steam bent walnut and attached to a plywood backing to hold it's shape. The skyline and mountains are made from 1/8" thick Purpleheart, Padauk, African Mahogany and Zebra woods. The mountains are either cut from my hobby CNC machine, or hand cut, depending on the time.

The bottom portion is made from solid walnut and has slots cut in the back for a more secure and straight mounting to the top piece.

All pieces are then sanded, wet to raise the grain, then lightly sanded again. Lots of sanding!

The final step in the process is finishing the piece with Danish Oil which needs about 72 hours to fully cure.
