This is a beautiful set of stud earrings and handmade earring jackets perfect for fall. The studs are sparkling smoky quartz cushion cut gemstones set in oxidized Sterling Silver prong settings. The separate earring jackets are made with smoky quartz teardrops wire wrapped with oxidized sterling silver wire. The studs are about 3/8 of an inch long by 3/8 of an inch wide. The total length with the jackets is about 1 inch.
The earrings have top posts with sterling silver butterfly clutch backs. The S-hook loops on the jackets make them articulated under the studs, so jackets will move like dangle or drop earrings. The jackets can be worn behind the studs on the front of the ears, or behind the lobes in front of the clutch backs. The studs can be worn with or without the jackets and the jackets can be worn with other studs, giving you 3 looks with one purchase!

How it’s Made
I made these earrings by setting 7 x 7 mm Smoky Quartz cushion cut gemstones in the Sterling Silver settings. Then I made the jackets by wire wrapping the Smoky Quartz faceted teardrops with 24 gauge Sterling Silver wire. Then I made the ear jacket S-hook with 20 gauge Sterling Silver wire and attached the Smoky Quartz drops. Next the studs and jackets were oxidized in a Liver of Sulfur bath, and the lightly polished with 3000 grit sandpaper to reveal the oxidized silver texture.
