Meet the Maker

Hello!  My name is Linda Moeser and everything here is handmade by me. I strive to create useful, comfortable and beautiful pots for the home that enrich the everyday experience and are a pleasure to use.

Much of my inspiration is driven by my love of gardening and my earlier career as a floral designer.  My passion for gardening is often evident in my work.  Frequently a particular flower will inspire the shape or color of a vessel. I also enjoy making thoughtful, useful handcrafted pottery that enhance the ritual of cooking and eating.

My materials are stoneware and porcelain, sometimes thrown on the wheel, often times altered. I also enjoy handbuilding from a slabs of freshly rolled clay. Over the years I have made many handmade molds for creating forms that are not possible on the wheel...and all created in my backyard studio and fired in a my electric kiln.

My family moved from Colorado to the Northern Virginia area when I was a child and I have lived in the NoVa area most of my life, with time spent in New York and the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. I began my study of ceramics at the Reston Community Center, with many wonderful teachers and have been making pottery for nearly a quarter of a century!

Thanks for checking out my website! My love of creating pottery keeps me heading out to my studio to try new shapes and experiment with the ideas that continually swirl in my head. I hope you find something here that you like!

How it’s Made

Creamy white stoneware is formed (thrown) on my potter’s wheel.  I form/pull a handles and attach it to the pot when the clay has reached a stiff ‘leather hard’ stage.   When completely dry the pot is fired first to cone 06 (approximately 1830 degrees) in my electric kiln.  After completely cooled it is then glazed…sometimes dipped, sometimes brushed, occasionally sprayed, maybe all three!  Fired again to cone 6 (approximately 2,232 degrees)
