About this Product
"Spear and Shield" is dedicated to the protective, courageous, and clear-headed aspects of war gods, particularly Mars, though also appropriate for those such as Guan Yu and Lugh. It is intended to aid in purification, protection, removing negativity, bring courage, and aid in promoting clear thought and action.
The skull is an incredibly versatile symbol and has many uses. Some of the obvious are as a devotional object to death, ancestral connection, and Underworld deities, and meditative tools to contemplate mortality and spiritual immortality. They can also be used for healing rituals: as the candle melts one visualizes the melting away of an illness. They are also useful for shadow work rituals and for burning away self illusions, self imposed boundaries, and releasing spells. They can of course also be used for hexing, crossing, uncrossing, and reversing spells.

All candles are made from USDA certified organic beeswax. Chimes and Tapers are made from 100% beeswax. All candles are scented with rosemary and cinnamon, and coated with dried Rosemary leaves.

DESCRIPTION
Though frequently conflated with the Hellenic Ares who was associated with storms and the unbridled aspects of war, attributes which more closely resemble the Roman goddess Bellona, Mars was honored as a stabilizing, life-giving, and protective force associated with grain, agriculture, and the war-craft needed to protect farm and state. He was therefore both a protector of farmers and soldiers. Mars guides practitioners to move through difficulties with courage, honor, and clarity of purpose.
SAFETY:
Never leave a lit candle unattended, and place a flameproof object under candle for precaution and to collect wax. As an irregular shaped candle melting wax has a tendency to drip unpredictably.

How it’s Made
Please note as a handmade object made from pure, natural beeswax, it is natural for the wax to change color throughout the seasons with the pollen and nectar available to the bees. Therefore, there will often be slight variations in color. Yellow beeswax is pure and natural with no additions. White beeswax has been naturally bleached of the yellow hue. All other colors have the addition of a candle dye and nothing more.
Solis Iluminatum uses the best beeswax it can source. The largest bulk from Gardner Bees, a small family-owned farm in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and others supplemented from wholesale suppliers from the United States committed to sustainability efforts under the certification of Oregon Tilth. We hope you will recognize the unique gentle scent and texture of 100% beeswax, uncut with any vegetable or petroleum based waxes.
