About this Product
This is a mineral that I have not seen in any great quantity. It's a mineral from Mexico and it is really a Rhyolite, not a Jasper. The stars form as the magma cools and the crystals align themselves into the star like patterns. This piece is formed in the beveled edge design and the buckle measures 2 1/16" by 3 1/16" with a thickness of 1/4" and is supported with my handmade backing.I use an alloy called German or nickle silver which is not silver at all. This alloy is comprised of nickle, brass and zinc and the reasons I use it is because it's stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as does silver

How it’s Made
I have been making my buckles for approximately 45 years. I cut shape and polish all my pieces and fabricate my belt buckle backings using German silver or as it's also called nickle silver. German silver is not silver but an alloy comprised of nickle, brass, and zinc and I use it because it is stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as does silver. All my buckles take around 20 different steps to complete and the one's with silver insets take many more steps.
