About this Product

One of my favorite stone, it comes from the Mcdermitt area of Oregon and Nevada.  One of the things I first noticed when I began working with this stone is that when cutting it, it…. stinks…like rotten eggs.  The reason for that s because it is made of petrified swamp bog.  There are a couple of other McDermitt stones that smell similar, probably for the same reason.  This stone, however is always worth the smell because the colors and patterns are always worth it!  I loved the contrast in this stone between the dark green bottom and the yellows and swirling grays at the top of the stone.  The image is just gorgeous in this stone and because of that, I chose to give it a very simple setting with a mirror finish.  The piece is set in sterling and comes with a 16” stainless chain.  It measures 65 mm by 30mm, roughly 2.5” by 1 “.

Meet the Maker

Hi!  I’m Cathy and, pretty much, I’m Rockworlds by Cathy.  I live on a farm in Southeastern Indiana with my husband, our dogs and cats and chickens and goats and cows and gardens….and my rocks.  I have a lot of rocks. I began working with rocks over a decade ago and fell in love with the process.  I cut and polish my own stones and create all of the settings for them.  I’ve mostly worked with wire wrapping and silver smithing but have added resin to the process along with other central focuses besides the rocks like pebbles and wildflowers, dirt, sands and stones I collect here on the farm.   Nature is where I get my inspiration and I try to reflect that in my work as much as possible because I really think it is a connection that all of us are yearning for in these times when we are so involved with the virtual realm.  Having jewelry that reconnects us to the natural world, reminds us that we are human in a beautiful way and that is what I strive for in my jewelry and Rockworlds by Cathy.

So, along with the farming, I make jewelry.  Over the years, I’ve worked in shows and craft fairs.  I do continue to participate in occasional shows and am now moving into online selling with Goimagine as well as selling from our shop, The Little Shop out Front, here on our farm.  I really love the mission of Goimagine as they have found a way to humanize the online shopping experience and are about making the world a better place through their work with charities.  I love that and I hope you do as well!

Shop Policies

Typically I will ship your jewelry between 1 and 5 business days of purchase.

I do accept returns within 7 days of the delivery date but please notify me if there is a problem!  I would rather have you exchange or repair the jewelry and end up with the piece you love than have you discouraged about the work.

Repairs are available on an “if possible” and “within reason” basis and each will be evaluated by the maker prior to repair.  I only work on repairs for jewelry pieces I have created.  Due to the individuality of each piece, replacements are not available, however, every effort will be taken to restore your piece to its original state if there is an issue.

Due to time constraints, I do not do cleanings at this time.

Unfortunately, I do not do custom work at this time.

Chains, cords and other accessories are available on an “in stock” basis only.  Due to fluctuations in the metal market and supply chain issues, I cannot accept special orders for these.

Due to the mediums I work with, each item is individual and cannot be copied or reproduced.  Similar items and stones/flowers/etc. may become available, however, each piece is unique.  Please do not ask for multiples of one item or “another just like it,” as it cannot be produced.

I use the USPS for shipping and shipping costs are determined on those rates.
