Sugar Magnolia Pea seeds:
Sugar Magnolia peas are distinguished, lavish, and like something out of a fairytale. These cold-loving peas can be grown similar to sweet peas for their ornate, highly attractive flowers, or for their adaptable and multifaceted pea pods. Each vine will produce incredible amounts of lush bright green foliage, lavender and maroon blooms, and deep burgundy pea pods. Trellis these on a cattle panel archway and you'd swear you were at a fancy wedding venue or botanic garden, they're truly stunning.
Sugar Magnolia Pea vines will reach an average of 8 feet in length. The flavor is best described as a standard sugar snap pea, but more subdued. Younger pods can be consumed whole, mature peas can be shucked and harvested for the peas inside. There is a tradeoff for this highly ornamental variety as these can take up to 30 days to germinate, so patience is key to successfully growing these. Peas are a cold-weather crop and will not require a heat mat (this will be in the instructions). Plant these in early spring, or late summer for a fall crop. These will perform best on a trellis or on a bamboo teepee.
