About this Product

Tulips are among spring’s earliest and most beloved blooms. These fourteen yellow and white flowers stand cheerfully in a gently curved light blue ceramic pot with light layer of Spanish moss, offering soft color, charm, and fine craftsmanship that won’t fade with time. Each flower is individually made by hand and always ready to brighten any indoor space—no water or sunshine required!

Overall height:  15”

Pot: approximately 6”maximum diameter, 6” tall

For indoor display only. Avoid water and direct sunlight.

As in the garden, no two blooms are exactly the same. Due to variations in monitors and screen settings, colors may appear slightly different in person.

Meet the Maker

I’ve had “busy hands” since I was a child. With just some blunt scissors and scotch tape, I turned the cardboard from my dad’s freshly pressed business shirts into everything from accessories for my Barbie dolls to miles (well, feet, actually) of fencing to corral my beloved toy horses—and not one ever escaped! That love of making stayed with me, leading to a BFA, a career in graphic design, and a lifelong passion for creative exploration.

During the quiet of lockdown, I picked up some crepe paper and scissors (much sharper now) and found myself immersed again in the joy of transforming a humble material into something entirely different. I was hooked. As time went on, what began as a small exploration became something deeper: a focused creative practice that connects art and nature, with nature offering an unlimited supply of inspiration.

My name is Mardi. I’m proud to share my work here through goimagine, a curated marketplace dedicated to independent artisans, and where every purchase helps support children’s charities. Learn more by clicking Our Mission and Charity Partners at the bottom of the main page.

How it’s Made

I don’t mind being called fussy. The individual crafting of each flower and plant is important to me. Details matter.

Before a new flower ever blooms in my shop, plenty of research and testing takes place. After selecting suitable weights and colors of premium European crepe papers, I make  prototypes, usually several, to study, reimagine, and refine until I’m confident in the expression. When possible, working from a live specimen is ideal (special thanks to my Shamrock plant—tracing those leaves was invaluable!)

Subtle details allow each flower to truly honor its natural counterpart. Oftentimes, the beautiful character of the crepe paper as it is can best capture the likeness. When more nuance is needed, I hand-color the paper using inks, dyes, pastels, or even coffee, which adds a gentle softness—and a lovely, though temporary, scent.

Once I’m satisfied with all the details, I hand-cut each petal, leaf, and any other components. Careful positioning of all the pieces brings the paper to life. Even the simplest-looking flowers can take hours of work. The challenge and the slow process allow room for my persnickety precision and artistry, and I enjoy every minute.

As the final step, I carefully wrap the flowers to make them ready for safe travel, so that you, or someone special to you, will enjoy long-lasting, maintenance-free flowers—enduring beauty without need for water, sunlight, or allergy concerns!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your flowers really made of paper?

Yes! The texture and detailing that can be achieved with premium European crepe papers is amazing…and part of the magic!

Are they fragile?

Many of the flowers are sturdier than they look, but as in nature, some have more delicate petals than others.  Just keep them dry, dust gently, and gently reshape if needed. Full care tips are included with every order.

Will the colors fade? Crepe paper is sensitive to strong light, especially UV light. Some find the gentle changes in the colors appealing, but keeping your flowers out of direct sunlight will help preserve the vibrant colors of the paper over time.

What do you use when you add color?

When a flower can be enhanced with hand coloring, I use professional grade, non-toxic inks, paints, dyes or pastels. I also like to ‘pull’ color from one crepe paper and add it to another.  On occasion, I use strong black coffee to soften and add character to a bloom.

Do you take custom orders?

I do not offer custom work at this time, but am always experimenting with new inspirations. Please feel free to reach out if you’re looking for something in particular.

Can I order more than one of the same arrangement?

Most of my work is one-of-a-kind. Hand-dyed items are almost impossible to replicate exactly, but similar pieces may be available. Please message me with any queries.

Why do handcrafted paper flowers cost more than typical artificial flowers?

My flowers are created individually, not manufactured. Each one involves hours of design, shaping, and hand-assembly using the highest quality crepe paper and careful botanical reference. It’s a slow art form that results in a truly unique piece of lasting beauty. Items are priced to reflect the time, detail and care that has been put into each.
