Superschmelz (Giant White) kohlrabi:
Superschmelz Kohlrabi is the largest kohlrabi variety available. This German heirloom can reach an incredible size of 10-12 inches in diameter and up to 12 pounds. The exterior of this variety is smooth and will range from white to a light green color. While almost all kohlrabi becomes fibrous with size, the Superschmelz will remain tender even at its mature size.
They will grow in containers, but you will need to space these at least 8" apart to ensure maximum size and production due to their size. Kohlrabi is an excellent option for snacking on raw, shredded, and made into a slaw. An online search will also shed some light on this vegetable's compelling health benefits.
