Meet the Maker: Mary, Machine Embroidery Queen
Crafting has been a lifelong passion for me, inspired by my Grandma Hoover who, even from her wheelchair, lovingly hand-sewed countless quilt pieces. Watching her create beautiful things taught me the value of staying busy and putting love into every stitch.
It took me a while to build confidence with machine embroidery, but when I discovered In The Hoop (ITH) embroidery projects, I was hooked! I love transforming simple pieces of fabric into charming mug rugs, festive Christmas ornaments, and heartfelt memorial keepsakes that my customers treasure. Personalization is at the heart of what I do — each item is crafted with care to be unique and meaningful.
I often feel my grandma watching over me, proud that I’m continuing the tradition of handmade artistry. Though I use an embroidery machine, every piece includes a lot of hand finishing and attention to detail. I specialize in adapting applique designs into creative ITH projects, including seasonal decor and one-of-a-kind gifts. Plus, I use my skills in computer design and printing to add original touches that make my creations stand out.
All of my embroidery art is made right here in sunny Florida, so you’ll find some Floridian flair in my work — but don’t worry, I also craft classic snowmen and cozy winter themes year-round.

How it’s Made
Each Coaster is made on a Janome embroidery machine. Once I have competed the design I load it from a computer and then take it to the machine on a USB drive, it is then ready to start the process of doing an outline then a stiffener is added and the material is placed on top as each color thread is added at each stage. All designs must be trimmed as each stage completes. Before the last satin stitch around is added the back must be taped on then stitched and trimmed and then a satin stitch goes around design and finishing touches are added. I use quality material and a Pellon stabilizer to make it more solid.

Items will be shipped by USPS. Shipping in US should be 3 - 5 business days after verifying order. I can customize most orders, just ask as will be additional charge but no order will be started until a proof has been approved. It will be emailed to you. After approval you will be given completion time and shipping options will be given.
