Meet the Maker
Hello! I'm Leasa Marie, the owner of and creative hand behind Talon Flora Designs. After 33 years as an educator, I finally took the plunge and retired in May of 2023. My retirement dream has always been to immerse myself full-time into three passions I've pursued over those years -- collecting all things "owl", nurturing my orchid garden, and, building my repertoire of handcrafted wood, embroidery and paper quilled creations.
By the way, I also have a thing for hummingbirds, hawks, dragons, roses, lilies and tulips. I'll bet you can't guess where the name for my shop, Talon Flora, came from!
It also dawned on me that I have the time and means now to share my love of nature and creativity with fellow nature lovers like you! At the same time, we can both help promote a Caring Economy by helping children in need right here via Goimagine. How cool is that!
Before you go, I want you to know that all of the products in my Talon Flora shop are handmade by me in my home workshop. I do all of the production, painting, and finishing work. The quality and meticulous design of each item is of the utmost importance to me. Your purchase should be a special one, knowing that each creation is made with love and attention to detail.

How it’s Made
Sublimation using Polyacrylic Coating
*** The following steps apply to these bookmark images:
- Tulips with Orange Butterfly
- Tulips with White Butterfly
- Hummingbird on Flowers
Step 1a: Printed the desired image on sublimation paper with my sublimation printer.
Step 1b: Applied a light layer of Polyacrylic to the topside of the blank wood bookmark. Let it fully dry and cure.

Step 2: Set my Easy Press to the desired temperature and time.
Step 3: Placed my printed image face down on top of the coated bookmark, and secured it with heat transfer tape. Covered everything with butcher paper and applied pressure with my Easy Press.
Step 6: Removed the transfer paper and carefully wiped off any paper residue, revealing the image!
Step 7: Applied another layer of Polyacrylic to the topside and one to the backside for a finishing touch.
Sublimation using Laminating Pouches
*** The following steps apply to these bookmark images:

Step 1: Printed the desired image on sublimation paper with my sublimation printer.

Step 2: Set my Easy Press to the desired temperature and time. Cut a laminating sheet to size.
Step 3: Placed the laminating sheet on top of the blank wood bookmark with the frosted side down. Placed butcher paper on top of and under the wood blank to protect my heating pad. Situated my Easy Press on top of the blank and applied pressure until the timer sounded.
Step 4: Cut the laminating sheet away from the wood. Using my craft knife and cutting mat, trimmed the edges of the bookmark for a neater look.

Step 5: Placed my printed image face down on top of the laminated bookmark, and secured it with heat transfer tape. Covered everything with butcher paper and pressed again for another 60 seconds.
Step 6: Removed the transfer paper to reveal the image!
Step 7: Applied a coat of Polyacrylic to the backside for a finishing touch.

Shipping and Product Creation: My average shipping timeframe is 3 to 7 business days. Your item(s) will be shipped via USPS. Some items will be ready to ship right away. Others may take several days to complete after you place your order. Also, please keep in mind that Talon Flora items are handmade and there will be variations. Colors may vary slightly as well due to your monitor or device settings.
NOTE: You'll always find specific shipping and product creation information under each individual item listing. If I'm running late on a project due to unforeseen circumstances, I will let you know immediately.
Returns and Refunds: If you're unhappy with your purchase, you may return the item for a refund. Returns are accepted within 30 days of the shipping date. Refunds will include original shipping fees, plus the original price paid for the product.
NOTE: Buyers will be responsible for return shipping costs and any loss in value if an item isn't returned in its original condition.
