Handmade tatted lace necklace and earrings set with beads from my own design, in light blue with yellow and blue beads.
Using high quality cotton cordonnet thread, I made the lace by hand using the technique of shuttle tatting. The main lace motif of the necklace bib front measures about 3 and 3/4 inches across (9.5 cm), 1 and 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) high, and the total necklace length is adjustable from 16 inches (41 cm) to 19 inches (48 cm) with a lobster style clasp.
The earrings are finished with ear wires that I hand formed from niobium, a metal that is very hypoallergenic. (Clip-on style earring findings can be substituted upon request.)
If lace jewelry becomes dirty over time, hand wash gently in sudsy water, rinse, re-shape, and lay out to dry.
Tatting is a type of lacemaking that was very popular in Victorian times. My original design retains the charm of Victorian craft while being 21st century modern. The name of my pattern is "Vision" and the necklace pattern is free from my blog "yarnplayertats". The earrings pattern is found in the Book "Boutique Tatting".
