Instructions for both the version with a metal gear and a gearless variation are given.
Recommended for experienced tatters, this pattern does not include any basic tatting instruction. This is an intermediate level, two shuttle pattern which I have designed and prepared in PDF format. Although it may be tatted using either needle or shuttle, the instructions and photos are shown from the shuttle tatting perspective only.

Techniques used include ring, chain, join, lock join, self-closing mock ring, floating ring (a ring thrown from a chain), bead picot, core bead (a bead on the core thread).
In size 20 thread the finished earrings or pendant measures about 2 inches (5.08 cm) long, and about 1 and 1/2 inches (3.81 cm) wide.
Materials you will need (for the version with a metal gear):
- 2 tatting shuttles
- Small steel crochet hook (for joins)
- Crochet thread (Lizbeth) size 20: about 10 yards
- Wide eye beading needle
- Size 11° seed beads
- 6mm round beads: 2
- brass gear: Fire Mt. Gems H20-B2153FN or H20-B2152FN
- Earring or pendant findings of your choice
For the gearless variation a gear is NOT needed. Different sizes of thread may be used, with corresponding changes of bead sizes as listed in the pattern.
