Check out my Shop for more incredible ancient games! https://www.etsy.com/shop/HammerNailWoodworks This stunning version of the Royal Game of UR was designed for a KING! This is a presentation quality game with tons of details and historical touches. There is Sumerian art throughout the design, from the sides, the game tiles and carriage. This game is the centerpiece you have been waiting for! The designs and details on the game tiles on the board surface are taken directly from the designs found on original boards from thousands of years ago! The Royal Game of UR is an ancient Sumerian game. This game has been around for thousands of years and original boards can be found in the British Museum as well as other fine institutions. This particular version is the single finest made example in the world today. This beautiful game is entirely hand made and finished by the artist. Many kinds of exotic hardwoods, including okay, birch, maple, cherry, padauk and mahogany are used in it's construction. The game comes as shown, with the main board &carriage and two pawn boxes. The pawn boxes fit beautifully into the two recesses in the game boards body and are removable so that when you are playing the game each of the two players can keep their pawn box near them. The game comes with 14 pawns (7 light - 7 dark), four Triangular Dice and instructions. These games are custom made when they are ordered so please allow 2-4 weeks for construction. I am a one man operation and I build all of my games myself. I take great pride in my work and want to do it right and that can take some time. I have every confidence that you will be thrilled with the finish product. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. The board measures 19" inches long, 8" inches wide and 6" inches tall. Please note: I made a slight design modification. Originally the board itself would rest on the carriage and be able to be taken off. After further testing it was found that the carriage itself was weak and prone to breakage without the structural support of the gameboard, so now the two are integrated into one unit, with the two padauk wood player boxes still able to separate from the board itself. This new configuration looks identical to the photos shown, except the board and carriage are fastened together, not separate. This makes for a far sturdier game board and more solid, durable game.
