About this Product
This instant digital download pattern contains easy-to-follow instructions to crochet the Not-So-Chunky Guy Beanie and Slouchy.
This pattern is a new version of my most popular pattern, the Chunky Guy Beanie. As its name suggests, the Not-So-Chunky Guy uses lighter weight yarn -- DK instead of chunky yarn.
Although the new pattern looks almost identical to the original Chunky Guy -- except for being crocheted at a finer gauge, there are a few other changes. The new hat is reversible: One side has narrow texture lines and a brim of columns of bead-like stitches, and the other side has rounded double-crochet stitches and a brim with closely spaced lines of texture, just like the original.
The other change is that the Not-So-Chunky beanie is made with spiral construction instead of joined rounds. Thus, it's ideal for self-striping yarns.
The pattern uses written instructions using American crochet terms. It’s sized for S, M, L and XL (21-24 in./53-61 cm head circumferences).
YARN:
Any DK-weight yarn (#3 Light).

Meet the Maker
The Chunky Guy Beanie, pictured here, is my best-selling pattern, with hundreds sold to makers from around the world. The pattern exemplifies what I love most about crochet and knitting: An easy pattern can produce a classic look as well as an enjoyable crafting experience.
Almost all of my patterns use simple, basic stitches. I occasionally venture into intermediate territory -- but only if the end result is worth the extra effort.
One of my favorite activities is to round up a few balls of yarn and experiment with stitches and shapes and color combinations. It's an adventure to find out what kind of hat the yarn wants to be. A sassy, lacy Juliet cap for summer? A rugged, ribbed topper for frigid days? A snazzy fedora that evokes vintage glamor?
I really enjoy doing my small part in bringing warmth and beauty into the world, one hat at a time. My wish is that you enjoy making/wearing/gifting hats from my patterns as much as I enjoyed creating them!
Happy crocheting/knitting!
