About this Product

This digital download pattern contains instructions to crochet the Peek-a Juliet Cap, an intermediate-level design.

Fun and flirty, Peek-a is a fast and fashionable crochet project.

The Juliet cap starts at the crown with a charming little flower created with treble-crochet cluster stitches. If you haven’t made cluster stitches before, this is the tricky part of the pattern. (Thank goodness for YouTube!)

Then, on the sides, an openwork pattern evokes the boho chic of granny-square stitches – and shows glimpses of your beautiful hair.

Using less than a 50-gram skein of DK yarn, the pattern includes four adult sizes: Small (Medium, Large, Extra Large) to fit head circumferences of 21 (22, 23, 24) in./53 (56, 58, 61) cm. If you use worsted weight yarn, you may need a bit more than 50 grams of yarn for the larger sizes.

Pick a solid color yarn for an elegant rendition of the Peek-a. Or try a self-striping yarn and enjoy the process of watching the different colors unfold as you crochet this lacy confection. Whatever your yarn choice, you’ll delight in wearing your own one-of-a-kind creation.

YARN:
Worsted Weight (#4 Medium) or DK Weight (#3 Light).

WHAT YOU GET:
A 4-page PDF pattern that also provides links to my website -- www.hatsbyelvee.com -- for technique tutorials and stitch definitions for new crocheters. The pattern has written instructions using American crochet terms.

Meet the Maker

The Chunky Guy Beanie, pictured here, is my best-selling pattern, with hundreds sold to makers from around the world.  The pattern exemplifies what I love most about crochet and knitting: An easy pattern can produce a classic look as well as an enjoyable crafting experience.

Almost all of my patterns use simple, basic stitches.  I occasionally venture into intermediate territory -- but only if the end result is worth the extra effort.

One of my favorite activities is to round up a few balls of yarn and experiment with stitches and shapes and color combinations.  It's an adventure to find out what kind of hat the yarn wants to be.  A sassy, lacy Juliet cap for summer?  A rugged, ribbed topper for frigid days?  A snazzy fedora that evokes vintage glamor?

I really enjoy doing my small part in bringing warmth and beauty into the world, one hat at a time.  My wish is that you enjoy making/wearing/gifting hats from my patterns as much as I enjoyed creating them!

Happy crocheting/knitting!
