About this Product

This gorgeous Sweetheart Sweater, with her sloping lines and coordinated color schemes, invites you for an afternoon stroll past the storefronts of a cozy small town. The cold temperatures don't bother you at all, because you're enveloped in soft fleece and warm wool. You'll finish the afternoon sipping coffee at a local shop with relaxing, lo-fi music playing in the background.

I design these elegant pieces with upcycled strips of felted wool sweaters. The unique features delight the eyes, including creative front pockets and appliques, which gracefully follow your figure.

Meet the Maker

Every time you walk into your home, you should feel embraced by designs that embody your dynamic spirit, yet feel relaxed, cozy, and inviting.

From hand-painted artwork to upcycled clothing, enchanting home décor, and unique accessories, each piece is crafted with care and creativity. My work is truly part of the handmade and slow fashion genre, and the quality, materials, and pricing all reflect the effort and attention to detail that are part of my process.

Each piece you see takes me several days of sustainable sourcing, material preparation, design work, and crafting to make it rise to meet my creative goals and standards. Therefore, what you receive in a Joyful Hearts at Home piece is meant to serve you for a lifetime and, hopefully, be passed on as an heirloom to the next generation.

From my Joyful Heart to yours, welcome home.

How it’s Made

I upcycle wool sweaters by felting them myself, blending beautiful color palettes, cutting the material to maximize fabric use, and then carefully stitching or serging together to make a high quality heirloom piece. I add whimsical touches, such as mitten-shaped pockets and appliqued flowers, to make the design totally unique, and I consider the female form while creating lines that flatter the figure.

Care and Washing Instructions

Many of the garments and décor items I make are made with vintage, deadstock, or upcycled textiles. These textiles have often seen a lot of life already and need to be treated with extra care. Each fabric that I start with is washed, spot cleaned, repaired, or felted thoroughly before assembly.

I carefully hand select each and every fabric I use to ensure both a beautiful design and little to no stains or excessive repairs. I also believe that if something starts to unravel or rip, you just pick up some needle and thread and repair it and let the garment continue its journey versus disposing of it. Certain care needs to be taken in wearing your garment as well.

Fabric products don’t need to be washed every time. The sweaters in particular, as layering pieces, do not need much washing. When you do wash your sweater, take care and wash in cold water on gentle cycle. Do not mix with light colors. Once you wash it, you can lay the sweater flat to
dry as needed. Instead of washing, spot clean all fabric items with a damp cloth when possible.

If you have any questions about caring for your garment, please reach out to me. I take a lot of care and pride in my work, and I want you to be happy, enjoy your piece for many years, and pass it on so it becomes a true heritage piece.
