About this Product

"Time Was" is an original Ink Wash by Tina Steele Penn.

I absolutely adore old barns.  They are grand structures telling us about the lives of their owners.  They link us to the past and how the land was farmed in days gone by.

This is the original painting and not a print!  It is delivered attached ot a greeting card for shipping or gift giving, with acid free glue/tape and is easily removed for framing.  Size is approx. 6" x 4".

The ink wash medium delivers the flowy places in the painting.

The painting is gently attached with temporary acid free glues to a greeting card to facilitate gift giving. It is easily detached for framing.

Meet the Maker

To keep an eye on my sister and I, while she painted, our mom would sit us down with her homemade finger paints* to keep us busy while she set up her easel, in her farm kitchen, and painted oils. I was painting in oils by the time I was seven years old. And I have been painting in oils, acrylics, watercolors and drawing six decades hence.  When I was 12 - during the hippie movement with all their beads - we moved to within a mile a bead shop.  A bead shop where you could by beads by the pound!!! Imagine the joy of that creative 12 year old!  From that day forward I have made my own jewelry.

The scent of linseed oil is as much a part of my memories of home as the smell of vegetable soup simmering on the stove, or fresh cornbread baking.

How it’s Made

This Ink Wash painting is part of my tiny barn collection. This painting is made using an Ink Wash. One loses a lot of clarity when working with ink wash, but the upside is the really cool textures created in the drying process. This one is made on Watercolor bond.

As an artist I have never like "Coloring in the lines". To me there is a mystery to the vision when things are not too precise. The brain likes to fill in the blanks. Find hidden surprises and joys in the effects. It creates an atmosphere unique to the painting. Very much like in Abstract Expressionism. See more... TSteele.Art
