It has a numbing and anesthetic effect on the mouth. It also contains compounds that inhibit pain. I am not allowed to go into benefits, medicinal uses, etc due to Etsy guidelines, but a quick Google search will reveal some really amazing about this herb. It can also be used topically or internally.
The toothache plant is believed to be an ancient plant of Peruvian origin. It has since gained popularity, but mostly in Southeast Asia and China. It is perennial but it can be grown in cooler climates as an annual. This herb is low-lying and can be used as ground cover.
Although the numbing effect comes from the bloom, the leaves can be used for cooking and should be treated like spinach. It can be used for soups, stews, and teas. It pairs well with dishes that contain garlic.
These require full sun and need well-draining soil. These do extremely well in window boxes, containers, or trim along with the garden or walkway.
