This beautiful tournament size wooden chess set is made using quality solid hardwoods and precision craftsmanship to create an heirloom quality set. The board is handmade in our shop in Missouri. Dark squares are solid black walnut, light squares are solid maple. The striking geometric design carved into the walnut border is truly distinctive. This is a set that you'll enjoy using and be proud to display. The handmade chess board comes with premium quality weighted wooden chess pieces for an all wood chess set. This is a large wooden chess board, with a playing surface of regulation tournament size: 2-1/4" squares, 18" playing surface, and 21-1/2" overall size with the borders. Pieces are in the Staunton style and comes with double queens. The pieces are tall and graceful with the king standing at 4" (king's base is 1-3/4"). This set features a lovely smooth finish and highly detailed carving on all the pieces; the knights are especially impressive, as are the king and queen. Pieces are weighted for a substantial feel in the hand and lined with green felt on the bottom.
