Cottagecraft Woodworks
How it’s Made
This ash is from the wood stove we use to heat our home during the cold Minnesota Winters. We burn locally sourced downed trees; mostly oak, but also some ash, maple, box elder and elm. We keep our fire going throughout the Winter so rarely have to use paper to restart the fire. This means there is very little to no ash from anything other than the seasoned hardwoods that we use for heat. We take the ash and sift it through THREE different sets of screens so that you get a super fine powdery and consistent ash. The smallest screen size is a very fine 60 gauge mesh (the size used for powdered sugar).
