About this Product

Recycled papers are used to upcycle this mini matchbox that once held small matches. It's a little journal attached to box, slide the box open and inside there is a professional print of one of my paintings, called "Star Gazer." There is also a small sodalite stone and a possible magical feather shed from a bird (it's been well cleaned and dried.) Comes with a cotton string storage bag, great for gift giving.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece.

All recycled papers are made by me.

The meaning of sodalite comes handwritten and mailed with matchbox treasure book.

Beads are organic made from bone, glass and wood.

Meet the Maker

I have been a professional artist for many years, trying different mediums, but always returning to watercolors mostly mixed with colored pencils, ink or conte crayons (a type of pastel.)

Most of my work is in a small format to miniature and when I work like this my pencils and paints last longer and I use less water. I have been using natural glues and stains, natural dyes, collecting vintage laces, found feathers, natural made beads and of course using my handmade papers to paint on, make journals, alter discarded books or use in collage. The more conscious I become about what is good and not so good for our environment, my demand for recycled, re used, or plant-based art supplies are becoming a must.

I only make what I need when it comes to paper, making most of my papers during the spring and summer when I can use leaves and flowers to add to my papers and water that has been collected.

This makes each of these art pieces and journals very special. I hope you will find a painting to treasure to be a part of your home or find that perfect journal to use and love.

This is my art journey right now; I invite you to join me.

Peace and Love,

Dolores
