BellasBeadedBliss

Meet the Maker
Hello, my name is Pat Chance and I am BellasBeadedBliss!! I live in Festus MO, just south if St. Louis. I am a retired grandma with 1 beautiful and amazing daughter and 2 wonderful grandkids, a 12 year old girl (going on 30 LOL) and a 20 year old grandson. We also have 3 cats( Mr. Hanky, Thomas and the king of our castle Ozzypawzborn) We also have a dog (Miss Lily Mae). It makes for wonderful chaotic days but I wouldn't have it any other way. I got a late start with my jewelry making and crafting (I am 68 yrs young) and I never knew I had the skill to do what I am doing, I always said I wasn't a crafty person, and I really wasn't. Everything i tried to do was a mess, but i had never tried making jewelry and beaded crafts. I started out making keychains for my granddaughter to sell to make her some money. Those turned out pretty cute so I thought why not keep going with bigger things? I have made quite a collection and have taken many things apart and have redone some. I have recently started expanding out to newer and bigger challenges such as wire wrapping cabachons and making hammered copper earrings out of copper washers. Making jewelry is very theraputic for me and i love it!! I am very happy and grateful to be in this group of wonderful helpful people! My shop is named for my beloved white boxer Bella that I had to give up when I became disabled and could no longer care for. She went to live with my cousin and had a very loving home until Bella passed away.
All of my products come from a smoke free and pet friendly home.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and please stop and visit my shop, sign up for my email list and receive discounts and be the first to know about new merchandise before it is listed.

Basic Jewelry Care:
Storage:
Cool and Dry:
Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Airtight Container:
Consider using an airtight container or jewelry box to protect your pieces from dust, moisture, and potential damage.
Separate Storage:
Avoid piling up jewelry, especially if you have mixed materials, as softer stones or metals can be scratched by harder ones.
Jewelry Organizers:
Consider using jewelry organizers, whether drawer organizers or wall-mounted options, to keep your collection safe and prevent tangling.
Wearing and Activities:
Avoid Water:
Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, or engaging in activities where it might come into contact with water or chemicals.
Protect from Chemicals:
Avoid wearing jewelry while applying cosmetics, perfumes, or hairspray, as these chemicals can damage the finish.
Wear with Care:
Be mindful of how you wear your jewelry, especially if it's made of delicate materials or has intricate designs.
Handle with Care:
When putting on or taking off bracelets or necklaces, avoid pulling or stretching them excessively, as this can damage the materials or connectors.
Regular Maintenance:
Check your jewelry periodically for any loose stones, beads, or connectors, and have it repaired or restrung if necessary.
Specific Materials:
Metals:
Use a soft cloth to polish metal jewelry, and avoid using abrasive cleaners.
Stones:
Be aware that some stones are soft or porous and can be damaged by water or chemicals.
Beads:
Use extra care when cleaning color-enhanced or delicate natural beads, such as turquoise, red coral, bone, and pearls.
Wood:
Avoid exposing wooden jewelry to excessive moisture or heat, as this can cause it to warp or crack.
Acrylic:
Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on acrylic jewelry, as they can scratch the surface.
Glass Beads-
Mild Soap Solution: Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with lukewarm water.
Alcohol: If you prefer, use rubbing alcohol.
Cleaning Method: Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently rub the beads to remove dirt and tarnish.
Rinse and Dry: Rinse the beads thoroughly with clean water and allow them to air dry on a clean surface.
Beaded Jewelry: If cleaning beaded jewelry, be cautious not to get the thread wet, as moisture can damage it.
Gemstone Beads-
1. Prepare Your Cleaning Solution:
Water: Fill a bowl with lukewarm water.
Mild Dish Soap: Add a few drops of a gentle, fragrance-free dish soap (like Dawn or Ivory).
Gentle Stir: Stir the solution gently to create a light lather.
2. Soak the Beads:
Submerge:
Submerge the gemstone beads in the soapy solution for about 10-15 minutes to allow any dirt or grime to loosen.
Delicate Gems:
For especially delicate gems, you might skip the soapy bath and simply wipe them gently with a damp microfiber cloth.
3. Gently Scrub:
Soft Bristle Brush: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush (or a soft cloth) to gently scrub the beads, paying special attention to areas where dirt might accumulate, like around the edges and between prongs.
Avoid Harsh Scrubbing: Be gentle, especially with softer stones like opals or pearls.
Q-tip or Toothpick: A Q-tip or toothpick can be helpful for reaching into tight spaces.
4. Rinse and Dry:
Thorough Rinse: Rinse the beads thoroughly under clean, lukewarm running water to remove all soap residue.
Pat Dry: Pat the beads dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Avoid Rubbing: Avoid rubbing the beads, as this can scratch softer gemstones.
Optional: Wood Chips: For a jeweler's trick to avoid water spots, immerse the jewelry in a bed of dry maple wood chips after rinsing, then blow away the chips once dry.
Important Notes:
Avoid Harsh Chemicals:
Never use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or cleaners with ammonia or chlorine, as they can damage gemstones.
Check Gemstone Type:
Some gemstones are more sensitive than others. Research the specific care requirements for your gemstone type if you are unsure.
Regular Cleaning:
Clean your gemstone jewelry regularly to maintain its shine and prevent buildup.
Professional Cleaning:
For particularly delicate or valuable pieces, consider taking them to a professional jeweler for cleaning.
Copper Jewelry:
Natural Cleaning Methods:
Baking Soda Paste:
Combine baking soda and water to form a paste.
Apply the paste to the jewelry and gently scrub with a soft cloth, toothbrush, or your fingers.
Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a soft cloth.
Lemon and Salt:

Ketchup:
Apply a layer of ketchup to the copper jewelry and let it sit for a few minutes.
Rub gently with a clean cloth and rinse thoroughly with water.
Polishing:
After cleaning, polish your copper jewelry with a quality non-abrasive polish to restore its shine.
Apply a small amount of polish to a soft cloth, rub gently, and buff with another clean cloth.
Storage:
Store copper jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent tarnish.Consider using anti-tarnish bags or a jewelry box lined with tarnish-resistant cloth.
Tips for Maintenance:
Wash copper jewelry with soapy water and a soft toothbrush after each wear.
Dry the jewelry thoroughly with a soft cloth after each wear.
Avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning copper jewelry.
Suncatchers with crystal prisms:
Cleaning Solution:
Isopropyl Alcohol and Water: Mix one part isopropyl alcohol with four parts distilled water in a spray bottle.
Alternative: You can also use a 1:3 ratio of white vinegar to distilled water.
Avoid Ammonia: If using a commercial glass cleaner, ensure it's ammonia-free, as ammonia can damage metal parts.
Cleaning Process:
1. Prepare:
Lay down a protective sheet or towel under the suncatcher to catch any dust or debris.
2. Spray and Wipe:
Spray the cleaning solution onto a clean, lint-free cloth (like a microfiber cloth) and gently wipe each crystal prism.
3. Avoid Spraying Directly:
Don't spray the solution directly onto the crystals, as this can cause a mess and potentially leave streaks.
4. Dry Immediately:
Use a separate dry, lint-free cloth to immediately wipe away any excess moisture and prevent water spots.
5. Gloves (Optional):
Consider wearing white cotton gloves while cleaning to prevent fingerprints from transferring to the crystal prisms.
6. Deep Cleaning (Optional):
For a more thorough cleaning, you can carefully remove the crystal prisms from the suncatcher and clean them separately.
