DESCRIPTION
Long before the Hellenic era when Ariadne is re-written as a princess who aids and then is betrayed by Theseus, she was a Goddess in her own right. Some scholars believe was the first deity in the Grecian lands to embody the use of honey wine to engage in ecstatic work. Karl Karenyi also claims her first title was that of "Mistress of the Labyrinth," which referred to a winding dancing ground as well as the maze of the Minotaur legend. She is also thought to embody themes of threads, spinning, and weaving. She mothered many children with Dionysus but most well-known are Oenopion, the personification of wine, and Staphylus who is associated with grapes.
Sadly the original plant sacred to Ariadne and Dionysus is thought to now be extinct. The closest we have is Wormwood, which is in its own right an incredibly magical plant. Used for many healing properties in ancient times, and still cooked with in Korea, it is now most commonly recognized as an ingredient for absinthe.
SAFETY:
Never leave a lit candle unattended, and place a flameproof object under candle for precaution and to collect wax. As an irregular shaped candle melting wax has a tendency to drip unpredictably.

How it’s Made
Please note as a handmade object made from pure, natural beeswax, it is natural for the wax to change color throughout the seasons with the pollen and nectar available to the bees. Therefore, there will often be slight variations in color. Yellow beeswax is pure and natural with no additions. White beeswax has been naturally bleached of the yellow hue. All other colors have the addition of a candle dye and nothing more.
Solis Iluminatum uses the best beeswax it can source. The largest bulk from Gardner Bees, a small family-owned farm in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and others supplemented from wholesale suppliers from the United States committed to sustainability efforts under the certification of Oregon Tilth. We hope you will recognize the unique gentle scent and texture of 100% beeswax, uncut with any vegetable or petroleum based waxes.
