This original painting/sign features a horse and rider or jockey inspired by antique steeplechase scenes from the mid 1800s. The legendary annual Virginia Gold Cup steeple chasing classic, now run before a sellout crowd of over 50,000 people. On April 3, 1922, eight sportsmen met at the Fauquier Club in Warrenton and decided to organize a four-mile race between flags over the natural walls and fences of the nearby hunting countryside. From its beginning, the race was intended to be a national event drawing “the best hunters in America.”
All of my original art is constructed from and painted on reclaimed barn wood that is 100 to 200 years old. Ads a touch of old English pubs to any room from your living room to your barn and great for any office, man cave, pub, tavern or bar. This reproduction measures about 15.5" by 21.5" and comes ready to hang.
I am now offering reproductions of my hand-painted custom interpretations of 18th and 19th century tavern and trade signs. Created from an ultra-high resolution scan of the 3-dimentional original then printed with a state-of-the-art UV cured ink jet printing technique. All reproduction pieces are printed on high quality, exterior rated, finish-grade, 3/4” plywood for an authentic look and feel. Typically these are for indoor display and not meant for outdoor use. If you require a sign for outdoor use that can be done and we can discuss the options.
Real barn wood framing can be added to these reproductions to give them even more dimension and realism.
These signs can also be printed in a custom size up to 4 feet by 8 feet if you would like something larger. Of course the print cost and shipping charge would be determined by the final size. Contact me if you would like a quote on a different size sign.
