The idea of a perpetual "hug" helps children with special needs, acknowledge what may be difficult for them when understanding spatial awareness as it involves their own body.
Our WeightyBugs!™ and weighted "dress up" vests are intended to help kids recognize where, when and how the different parts of their bodies work, independently and together.....allowing movement that is functional, comfortable, meaningful and safe.

Meet the Maker
I began sewing at age seven and ultimately envisioned myself as a child educator, special needs product designer and advocate. In 1975 I entered a graduate program at the University of Connecticut to incorporate those ideas. I ultimately earned two master's degrees in Clothing Design for Children with Special Needs and Rehabilitation Counseling/Education. Years later, I combined my sewing skills, degrees in rehabilitation and special education, motherhood and lifelong experiences, to bring that initial career path to fruition.
It has been a long labor of love, with my sewing machine and seam ripper as my "best friends" but the products that have evolved through this process are delightful and functional on every level. I'm sure they will help your little ones benefit as needed and most of all....have fun doing so.

How it’s Made
WeightyBugs!™ are made with love in Bethlehem, PA. Each one is individually constructed from anti-pill fleece, minky fabric, felt and grosgrain. They are stuffed with 100% polyester fiberfill and each has a double stitched cotton bag filled with one pound of hypoallergenic glass micro beads for the appropriate weight.
These bugs are always welcome at your home!!!!!
