About this Product
Widows Creek Falls is a historical landmark located in Stone Mountain State Park, Wilkes County, North Carolina. This stunning waterfall is just a few hundred feet from the parking area.
After doing some research, my wife and I decided to explore the falls, which were a reasonable drive from our home. We were pleased to find that the falls were a short walk away, and we were quickly rewarded with an amazing view.
Over the years, the falls have carved flowing streams into the solid rock, creating several small collection pools before finally resting in a large pool about 100 feet from the main waterfall.
I settled into a position across one of the flowing streams to capture several compositions. I asked my wife to bring me a different lens, but as she crossed the stream, she slipped! For a moment, I thought she was going to fall all the way down to the main pool with a splash. Fortunately, another photographer nearby saw her slip and rushed to help. Of course, the photographer (whom I really appreciated!) grabbed the lens first before assisting my wife, helping her avoid a fall.
Phew! I wasn't the hero that day, but I was grateful that the young photographer was nearby. We laugh now every time we see the images from Widows Creek Falls.
I'm incredibly happy with the photos and the story behind them!
