About this Product

This is a unique design for the perfect wooden comb. Most one piece wooden combs have less-than-perfect grain direction for either the handle or the tines - this combines both with a clever lap joint so you don't have to worry about it breaking, despite the elegant proportions! Ask a woodworker! :)

- Designed, crafted, and shipped from our home in Broomfield, Colorado!

- 6.5" (165mm) x 2" (50mm)

- Made from domestic elm hardwood and pinned with an oak dowel

- Finished with food safe, non-toxic pure tung oil and citrus solvent

- Great for thick hair or beards

Meet the Maker

Hello! We're Anna and TJ.

We’ve been building things together as long as we’ve known each other.

From dovetails to 3D printing, we’ve built a ton of useful and attractive objects over the last decade (some before we knew each other, but most after we met)! Making physical objects brings a huge amount of joy to us, and we’re excited to be able to share some of our designs and things we make with you.

The name BristleWoodCraft is inspired by a specific gnarled and twisted Bristlecone Pine in the glacial cirque known as Hell’s Hole. It’s a peaceful and inspiring hike in the Mount Evan's wilderness a bit past Idaho Springs.

Anna started her making journey with textiles and upcycling furniture. She loves growing things, and has slowly turned TJ into a green thumb as well.

TJ started by getting into 3D printing back when it was very unreliable and expensive, before being lured into the meditative hobby of hand-tool woodworking. He has been a hoarder of off-cuts for over a decade.

All of our products are designed and made by us from our home workshop in beautiful Broomfield, Colorado. We're passionate about ethical consumption, and we try to source materials as sustainably and locally as possible. This means in practice that you probably won't see any exotic hardwoods (aside from any reclaimed lumber). We also want you to enjoy the things you buy for decades to come, so everything we make is designed with an eye towards long-term use.

How it’s Made

This item is intentionally designed to take advantage of the natural properties of wood. Elm 4/4 stock is resawn using a bandsaw and planer, then using our CNC we cut out a perfect fit between handle and comb tines from that stock in the correct grain direction. The lap joint is cleaned up by hand, glued, and pinned with an oak dowel.

After the glue is cured and one piece, we shape the taper for the tines by hand, smooth out all edges, and apply a plant-based 100% pure tung oil and citrus solvent finish (similar to Real Milk Paint's Half & Half product).

Shop Policies

All items (except customized items) are returnable within 14 days for a full refund. Buyer will pay for shipping. However, if you're not happy for whatever reason please get in touch and we'll try to make it right!
