Our wooden mancala boards are handmade using solid hardwoods and a classic hand-rubbed finish. The extra deep wells hold plenty of pieces--no more worrying about your pieces spilling out! Our games come with a set of glass cats eye playing pieces in a cotton drawstring bag.
Mancala is one name for a traditional game played in many cultures with a series of holes or cups and small stones or beads. With simple rules, quick action, and strategy, it's a great game for families, including kids ages 5 and up. Variations of mancala are called oware, bao, kalah, congkak, and toguz, to name a few.

We don't use stains on our wooden mancala games, so the cherry mancala boards start out a little lighter than some "cherry" products you'll find elsewhere. Over time the wood will darken to a deep rich red-brown color.
Because of the natural variation in the wood, each handcrafted mancala game board has its own unique character. Yours will likely vary slightly from what is shown here in color or grain, but will be equally beautiful.
➤ GAME PIECES:
Multi-colored cats eye glass pieces with a shiny finish. Pieces are approximately 5/8" in diameter, with some variation. Each set of glass playing pieces comes in a cotton bag. Each game also comes with instructions.
Our games include a few extra playing pieces. Please contact us if you'd like to add another full set of pieces to your game.
➤ CUSTOM ENGRAVING: Custom engraving of names, dates, or a message on the back of the board is available. See listing photos for examples. Select the "custom engraving" option and enter your request when you order. We'll send a proof for your approval before we actually engrave your board, so please watch for that message.

Meet the Maker
At Three Trees Workshop, we make wooden games that inspire creativity and connection with the world around us. We use quality solid hardwoods, locally sourced whenever possible, and eco-friendly finishes. And we offer custom engraving for a truly personal touch.
Three Trees was started by Nathan and Cynthia Epp, a husband-and-wife team based in Warrensburg, Missouri. Although we’re both from the Midwest, we met in East Africa while serving as Peace Corps Volunteers. We bring our own values into our business, creating pieces that reflect our love of the natural world, the delight of exploration, and the joy found in personal connections.
We created Three Trees Workshop in 2015 upon returning to the US from Kenya. After years of travel and transition, we were looking to stay in one place for a while. It seemed the right time to act on a long-time dream--a full time creative pursuit based on Nathan's love for woodworking and our desire to make beautiful, useful things.
