Weighing in at 3.7 oz. and measuring a total of 6.75" in height, this wooden robot is a tiny giant. It is comprised of various hardwoods selected for their strength and aesthetic beauty. Made from oak, hard maple, and sustainably-sourced Baltic birch plywood, this action figure is makes a great puppet for stop motion animation or simply taking the imagination to the next level. This one-of-a-kind, robot action figure is built for fun and designed to last. It comes disassembled and is reassembled by gently clicking the pieces together. The arms, legs, and feet can be removed and reconfigured or replaced by anything that has a ½” hole drilled into it. It's a great way to encourage kids to think about engineering and design as well as promote the development of motor skills.
But it’s not only for kids. This robot makes an ideal gift for the bigger kids and adults who love anything to do with robotics or science fiction. How it’s Made
These wooden robots are as fun to make as they are to play with. Each of the component pieces are shaped and then assembled according to the type of joint required by the design. Ball-and-socket joints use a small sphere around which the socket recess rotates. Hinge joints used laminated birch plywood sections to form a tight fitting hinge that is then pinned with a bamboo dowel. The figure is then stained or painted, and then sealed to achieve the aesthetics and the durability that our toys are known for.
