Creating a groovy color burst pattern reverse ice tie-dye shirt is an awesome adventure into the world of vibrant contrasts! First, gather your essentials. a dark-colored cotton shirt, either bleach or an out-white brightener (OWB) solution, ice, rubber bands, squeeze bottles, gloves, a plastic rack, and a plastic bin.
Start by laying your dark shirt flat and scrunching it up in random, organic folds to create lots of surface area for the solution to work its magic. Secure your scrunched masterpiece with rubber bands to keep it in place.
Next, set up your ice-dyeing station by placing a plastic rack over a plastic bin to catch all the colorful drips. Place your scrunched and banded shirt on the rack and cover it with a generous layer of ice. Mix your bleach or OWB solution (about one part bleach or OWB to two parts water) and pour it into a squeeze bottle. Slip on your gloves to protect your hands, and carefully drizzle the solution over the ice-covered shirt. As the ice melts, it’ll carry the solution through the fabric, creating those awesome color bursts.
Let the ice melt completely, which can take several hours. Keep an eye on the color change to make sure it’s just the right amount of lightening. Once the ice has done its thing and you’re happy with the transformation, rinse the shirt thoroughly with cold water to stop the bleaching process.
