This piece resonates on the frequency of all that is spiritually symbolic of the horse. It represents fortitude of character and vitality of spirit. It symbolically aides in clearly perceiving not only the world around us, but also in comprehending the complex nature of the universe that is within ourselves. It bestows upon the viewer the motivational faculties to realize and advance their dreams by putting plans into action and setting clear, obtainable goals. It invokes a victorious mindset, guiding the viewer to become the best version of themselves not only in the present moment, but far off into the distant future.

Meet the Maker

Welcome to my shop, where you will find a variety of works that I have created over the years.

At the age of 5, I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, and that was to be an artist. I remember telling my Mother just that, on the drive home from kindergarten, and I never forgot that. I later wanted to be a veterinarian, and an astronaut. I spent most of of my life growing up in the mountains of West Virginia, and my favorite activity was riding my horse, Nightingale, on our family farm. I went to several universities, majoring in equine studies and also nursing, but when I finally saw a studio art major being offered, I knew I had found "the one".

Art school was an incredibly unique learning experience for me, and enriched my life as an artist. After graduating, it took many years to find my direction - my "true north". I now realize that I am on that path and am excited to be on this journey. My passions have always centered around the natural world and the intimate, mystical and spiritual experiences that one can gain from it.

I now reside on the Eastern Shore in Maryland, where I love to spend my time reading, walking and hiking outdoors, creating, and living a simple life focused on the beauty of the natural world.

The mediums and work here range from acrylics and watercolors to mixed media collages. One-of-a-kind commissions based upon the style, themes, ideas, and images of my art are also taken into consideration and available upon request after a consultation. All commission work will be under contract signed by both the artist (myself) and the patron.

How it’s Made

This painting was created on canvas in a single session of complete spontaneity, coming together quite effortlessly. However, I took much time and consideration into carefully finishing the piece with high standards. The wood frame on the back of the canvas has been neatly painted with Liquitex Titanium White, the same color used for the mane of the horse. I used an 18-gauge solid copper wire with which to hang it. The canvas is very carefully trimmed to precision along the wooden frame. I applied two coats of Polycrylic to the painting, as well as the sides. A card will be provided to include on the back of the painting, containing all pertinent contact information, including the artist name, title and medium used.
