About this Product

This is a painting that went through an incredible metamorphosis, going from 4 completely different paintings until transforming into its final stage. The word 'santosha' means contentment, and it is all about accepting yourself exactly who you are.

This painting would be an excellent accent piece to add vitality and nature in a quiet room, or would also work wonderfully in a nature-inspired boho room surrounded by plants, vines and vivid colors.

This is a work on canvas wrapped on a wooden frame, painted with Liquitex acrylics, and sealed with Minwax clear gloss polycrylic.

Meet the Maker

Welcome to my shop, where you will find a variety of works that I have created over the years.

At the age of 5, I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, and that was to be an artist. I remember telling my Mother just that, on the drive home from kindergarten, and I never forgot that. I later wanted to be a veterinarian, and an astronaut. I spent most of of my life growing up in the mountains of West Virginia, and my favorite activity was riding my horse, Nightingale, on our family farm. I went to several universities, majoring in equine studies and also nursing, but when I finally saw a studio art major being offered, I knew I had found "the one".

Art school was an incredibly unique learning experience for me, and enriched my life as an artist. After graduating, it took many years to find my direction - my "true north". I now realize that I am on that path and am excited to be on this journey. My passions have always centered around the natural world and the intimate, mystical and spiritual experiences that one can gain from it.

I now reside on the Eastern Shore in Maryland, where I love to spend my time reading, walking and hiking outdoors, creating, and living a simple life focused on the beauty of the natural world.

The mediums and work here range from acrylics and watercolors to mixed media collages. One-of-a-kind commissions based upon the style, themes, ideas, and images of my art are also taken into consideration and available upon request after a consultation. All commission work will be under contract signed by both the artist (myself) and the patron.

How it’s Made

The canvas was purchased in Delaware at a craft store and came pre-gessoed. While I have purchased lumber in the past, sawed wood to make frames, stretched canvas, and gessoed it to prime it and ready it for painting, this is not one of those paintings.

What makes this painting handmade is the thought, intention, and work that went into creating it with each brushstroke. The painting itself morphed from a dream I had one night of an impressionistic field of blues, greens, yellows, and pinks, to that of an abstract painted solely with my hand in blues and purples, using no brushes, then to a pink background with a white circle and gray-and-white feathers that read "May I be Peaceful, Happy and Light in Body and Mind", then to a large red and blue spiral and dark feathers, and finally to its final phase.
